Ceramics inspired by leaves and mushrooms

The mushrooms growing on felled wood in the garden were one source of inspiration, as were the decaying autumn leaves in the country park. I took many photos of both these subjects and used these as a frame of reference, though not as a direct literal source. The pieces shown here are all stoneware with some oxides, and glazes as surface decoration. My aim was to make pieces with minimal decoration, concentrating on the forms, some of which can look quite parched, with little colour.

In addition to these larger pieces there are other, smaller and more minimal forms using the same design source but porcelain additions.
